Master of Social Work
I completed my MSW degree at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario in 2018.
In my first year I received the Violet McLaughlin Scholarship for holding the highest academic standing from 2016-2017.
I was also awarded the Ontario Graduate Scholarship from 2016-2018 for academic and research excellence.
My research during my MSW focused on community development, the criminalization and incarceration of marginalized communities, non-monogamy and mononormativity (the normalized privileging of couples, and resulting marginalization of single or polyamorous folks in dominant society).
I graduated from the Direct Practice stream of the MSW program, with an emphasis on providing individual psychotherapy and group work.
During my program I completed practicum placements at the Centre for Excellence in Child and Youth Mental Health, and the South East Ottawa Community Health Centre.
Master of Arts
In 2014, I graduated from my Master of Arts in Women's Studies and Feminist Research at Western University. My passion for social justice and feminism drove my research into sex and sexuality, queer theory, sex work, ethical non-monogamy, and sexual minorities.
Throughout my MA program, I volunteered at the London and District Distress Centre phone lines. This experience of direct work with individuals in distress, paired with my academic interest in social justice, initiated my interest in pursuing social work and psychotherapy.
Bachelor of Arts
In 2010, I completed the Foundation Year Program at King's University College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This program gave me a strong foundation in the arts and social sciences. After my first year, I transferred to Western University where I switched my degree major a number of times - from psychology, to philosophy, and finally landing on Women's Studies and Feminist Research. I graduated with an BA in Women's Studies in 2013.
